Mark Stock

Welcome to my personal homepage and server. I am a graduate student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan, and my thesis work concerns modeling large-scale flows using vortex sheets and vortex methods. I have been known to create computer graphic artwork, program graphics and dynamics routines, shoot medium and large-format photos, play swing guitar, drive a 20-foot car, and hack Linux. I'm currently learning parallel programming, gardening, and cooking.

Here is some software that I have had a hand in creating:

dla3d - a program that simulates off-lattice three-dimensional diffusion-limited aggregation; in short, those branchy, dendritic structures that seem so common in nature.
part3d - an experimental particle system for making galaxies collide, planets explode, million-ball pool tables, and other relatively uncommon pheonmena
Rocktools - a small toolkit for manipulating triangulated meshes, specifically those in OBJ, TIN, or RAW formats
HFTools - my first crack at a big program, I wrote these tools to create and manipulate heightfields
Dynamic Tree Project - a semi-successful attempt at simulating a tree blowing in the wind
A World Builder Page - a list of programs and utilities to assist in the design and creation of realistic landscapes; includes simulation software for erosion, plate tectonics, 2d flow, digital elevation model conversion, etc.

Another of my recent works will appear in the Art Gallery at SIGGRAPH 2004 in Los Angeles. I consider myself lucky to be counted in the group of multiple consecutive presenters among all of the artists whom I have followed and respect.
